Henry has decided not only to provide a scholarship but has also committed to providing mentorship for students. Gareth Henry will make phone calls once a term to provide coaching to scholarship recipients. Students will continue to receive guidance after graduation. Henry will provide career advice and employment guidance. Henry has an overall goal of helping other Heriot-Watt graduates to see what they can achieve in the Actuarial Sciences.
The Actuarial Science is an important part of Heriot-Watt university. Currently it is one of only a few programs that accredited by the UK actuarial profession. A strong performance in this department can result in a number of exemptions for examinations. This can be a huge advantage for those taking other mathematics courses. Graduate who become UK actuaries may also get credit with the Society of Actuaries in North America.
Currently Gareth Henry resides in New York. For the last several years he has worked in an number of senior roles in investor relations. In these roles he is responsible for client services, marketing and sales. Henry has built a very impressive resume which includes serving as Global Head of Investor Relations and Partner at Angelo, Gordon & Co. as well as the Director of Strategic Solutions at Schroder Investment Management Limited. Henry holds a a Bachelor of Science Degree with first-class honors from Heriot-Watt University.
